This includes understanding my clients by assessing, gathering data and identifying their goals. Then using this information to create an action plan to improve diet, movement, and overall health.
This can be done in a number of ways, but will include a general evaluation of current diet and food choices. Understanding the why behind these choices and how that affects health and progress.
After which as a team we will decide on how to progress through the process. This might include, but is not limited to, diet changes, options for tracking food, exercise and movement.
There will be work on both our parts and a plan or activity for each check in period. At check-ins we will discuss the activity and how well it was adhered to and if it should be built upon. This is all in an effort to develop new habits and understand the why behind the changes. This is not a fad diet nor a quick fix.
I have been in Emergency Medicine for over 20 years. I remember in high school all I wanted was to learn more about the human body. I was fascinated by the fact the things I was learning were actually happening at that time. I love the ER, but I have found over the years that nutrition and movement, or lack thereof, is what causes a lot of people to end up in the ER. Many people are "metabolically ill" meaning that their metabolisms are out of whack, most often due to poor food choices and lack of movement. They can then develop High Blood Pressure and/or Diabetes and these things lead to many more severe medical problems. Studying nutrition has helped me learn even more about how to help people get and stay healthy. What we put in to our bodies and how we move our bodies have a huge impact on our
health and longevity.
